The theme of the conference is “Growing Socio-Economic Opportunities Through Quality Education in the 21st Century”, and is a must-attend event for private and non-profit organisations looking to engage with key decision makers in Africa in the area of Education.
The Education sector is one of the fastest growing markets in Africa. Zimbabwe alone has over 4.5million learners who are Generation Z – technologically savvy and information hungry.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is proud to host its first biennial Education Conference and Expo at the Rainbow Towers in Harare Zimbabwe from 16 to 18 September 2015.
This event brings together over 26 Ministers of Education as well as Ministers of ICT drawn from across the continent of Africa.
The Education Conference and Expo will also give opportunity to companies and other organisations to showcase their offerings through world class exhibits
The Education Conference & Expo is an opportune setting for organisations looking to engage with key decision makers in Africa in the area of Education
It gives me enormous pleasure to welcome all delegates to this 2nd Education Conference and Expo 2015. Indeed delegates from within Zimbabwe, SADC community and beyond the African continent should look forward to an unforgettable two-and-half days of Conference in our capital: Harare, at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
For three days in September (16 – 18 September 2015) , my Ministry will host over 300 local and international delegates for the 2015 Education Conference & Expo. During this period, we will create a platform of interaction for some of the best minds as they share experiences, breakthroughs and innovation in the areas of Education, Values and Technology.
Zimbabwe has over the years built a reputation for leadership in literacy rankings across and beyond Africa. Our education system continues to produce leading minds in all spheres of commerce, industry, science, agriculture and social services. This success is attributed to the visionary leadership that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe articulated at the outset of Zimbabwe’s Independence in 1980. This vision of providing Education for All, forms the bedrock of our highly educated and dynamic Zimbabweans who are renowned the world over for their diligence and academic excellence.
The efforts of Government have had far-reaching impact with the valuable support of our network of Education sector players and partners such as UNICEF. Their contributions ensure that this great vision reaches every village in Zimbabwe and impacts positively on the most vulnerable members of society, women, children and adults alike.
This Conference & Expo presents an opportunity for us as a Ministry to re-engage with the various stakeholders in the Education sector. It also creates a platform of engagement with our counterparts from across the SADC region who we have invited to the 2015 Education Conference & Expo.
We have lined up a rich array of both local and international speakers and panellists, and we are proud to host some of the best minds in policy, research, technology, business and innovation.
The Conference programme also includes case study presentations from various countries, which we have invited to share their successes in the areas of education. This is in line with our forward-looking theme for the 2015 Education Conference & Expo which is "Growing Socio-Economic Opportunities through Quality Education in the 21st Century". We owe it to posterity to prepare now for the challenges ahead while some are already here and present in the context of the global economy.
I look forward to your participation in what will undoubtedly be an exciting and valuable Conference and Expo.
With my warmest regards
Hon. Dr L. D. K. Dokora, MP
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education
